Problem: Provide an integrated conveyor system for short term (8-10 Hours) storage and retrieval (with FI/FO capability) of 3600 lb pallet loads of concrete paving stones. Elevate the pallet from the 4" elevation of the moulding machine to 24" for the transfer to the 8 gravity storage lanes without having to add powered conveyors. An inclined conveyor could not be used since storage lanes were beside the moulding machine.

Solution: A pit with a scissor lift was installed. This carried rails for the programmable transfer car . This provided the required elevation in the shortest distance. A pusher on the transfer car discharged the pallet onto the gravity storage lanes as well as pushing the other loads (max 40 pallets at 150,000 lbs) towards the discharge end of the kiln. At this point the pallets were unitized/strapped for shipment.
